hey,
i am looking to buy another mini and have found one which seems to be a good price. here is what the add says:

'Mini Cooper 1962, 8.5in disc brakes, Mini Lites, reconditioned 1310cc, motor and gearbox, lots original parts and interior, sliding windows, original speedo, unfinished project, VIN YKA-2S1, $3300 negotiable.'

From the SA trading post.

how do i tell if this is genuine cooper?? there may be an obvious answer and i am sorry to waste your time if it is. Any pointers will be great 8)

I am pretty sure this is a good deal, but any comments will be much appreciated.
does this car belong to anyone on this forum, if it is please reply or PM me.

I will call up tomorrow to see the car. let ya know how i go.

cheers in advance,
matt

IF it is a YKA2S1 it is a Cooper. There was a thread on this here a week or 2 back do a search...
Sounds worth it to me, even if NOT a Cooper...

<edit> here it is- http://www.ausmini.com/forums/viewtopic ... ght=cooper

U would never get a good price like that in sydney for something like that. If you did, the motor would be blown, it would be full of rust, and it would have no disc brakes....

Cheers

Aaron

The following thread helped me make a decision when looking at a "cooper" a few months ago.

I agree with Doc. It sounds like a good deal, even if it isn't genuine.

Yes certainly sounds like a great buy :)...

Sometimes I wonder what ever possesed me to move back to Sydney :? .... As Adelaide is a lovely place and I do miss living there :).

Anyway have a look at the speedo as it should read 100mph.

Also Im not 100% sure as my memory is going on me because of my old age :(.. But did'nt the Cooper also have the slant piece of metal behind the grill attached to the top of the railing where the bonnet catch is and the bottom of the car just like the Cooper S did?

And also from memory it had over riders on the bumper bars too.

Im sure someone else can clarify this though :)..

That is why I always say "when you want something you buy it". If you take your time over it you will find it Gone. When it is a bargain the only one that needs to know about it is yourself. Even by telling other people about it might interest someone you are telling to go and buy it from under your nose. Remember Minis are getting fewer and further between We all love a bargain.
