Depends what has been done to the engine? If it's a stock 998 then yeah probably 95 with flashlube.. But if it's had a lot of work done to it, I'd go 98 octane..

i have a stock 998 and use 98 octane with flashlube. although recently i put 94 in wih 10% ethanol (didnt want to but started to pump them realised it wasnt their good stuff  ) and that seemed to go alright...

experiment with various fuels/brands to see what works best for performance/economy although the difference should be small if not negligible

Well my deluxe has a 998 stroked to 1098, the head's been fully worked, twin su's, aftermarket inlet manifold , extractors, RE13 cam.. Performance wise there is a big difference between 95 and 98 octane for me. But 98 octane makes it idle really fast.. have to hit the accelerator to slow the idle down. Whereas 95 octane will make the engine idle nicely but it's not as fast. Half way between both would be good I reckon. Might try filling one tank with 95 and the other with 98.. hahah will that work? :D

Didnt notice any VSR.
It wasnt driving on unleaded long enough to notice any recession anyway

We stuffed a recond 1098 head in 6 months with no Flashlube etc in it. Did it for a `trial...'
