I can't find my book, but should the longer shaft slip from the cv? drum brake front end. Are they pressed together.
Should I repalce the front wheel bearings with cooper type?
Is their a seal on the inside of the hub (inside as in closest to the engine)?

Question 1: TRhey all come out the same, one side is a little harder than the other cause of the length
Question 2: Not really, save yourself the dough unless you're really gonna thrash it around corners. Good tip though is that MiniPsares sell the Timken Classic Bearing Kit for minis I think for about 1/2 of what it costs locally, and they're taper roller.
Question 3: Yes, it keeps the grease in. It's part of the bearing seal kit.

drum cv's
long shaft... one end has the universal, the other goes into the cv and is splined
does the shaft pull from the cv with ease, or does it need to be pressed out?

Look up, I edited it once I worked it out

The shaft is held in the CV by a detent spring, what this means is that it need a bit of a shock load to get it to drive over the spring holding it in, but it will then fall away.
Ususally you hold the shaft in your hand or in a vice and whap at teh CV with a leather hammer and it should drop away after a while.

once you have the drive shafts out you seperate the CV joint from the spline shaft bit by holding the shaft vertical and giving it a whack with a hammer or a piece of wood. There is a circlip in there the whack gets the CV joint past the circlip :wink:
