no Anton, it's not that you're not old, it just means you didn't get out enough when you were young.....

Smokie is old and doesn't remember the movie, Anton doesn't remember the movie, so Anton must be old too

danidad:

Im very sure that this was a special promotional video for Austin/Morris Holland, around about 1972 or so, if i recall correctly the car in the video is a Red UK style Mk3 pretty standard not Cooper S or anything, which fits in with the timespan. If my memory serves me correctly, the stunts were performed by Remy Julienne's team (the same famous contemporary french stunt team who drove all the stunts in the Italian Job original) but I may be wrong on that one.

Watch the crowds of people in the vid, they are all looking at the mini in that advertising style "i want one of those" kinda poses. Also in the full version the clip ends with the mini on a pontoon boat thing by itself just cruising down the canal. I have the DVD you mention, but I've seen the full version at the UK's National Motor Museum (Beaulieu) when they had their Mini45 exhibit and it was playing with a whole lot of other promotional videos etc for the mini.

thanks MistyK, that could be it funny i remembered it as a movie but i was only 9 in 1972 and i cant remember any other movies of the era.. kinda explains why i couldnt find anything about it on the internet searching for a movie... that bmc add with the whole town driving minis is pretty out there too.

Yeah that's a great ad too! I didnt notice on my first look at it but it's actually for Australian Deluxe, all the cars have windup windows and the start of the clip looks very outback w/ gum trees etc. I would love to get a copy of that ad with original sound too it truly is a classic.

Well fear not - they weren't cooper S's that went over the cliff. If you have it on DVD check it out again
