Sounds like the carb to me. Mine used to do a slightly milder version of this. When I slowed down to a corner to a halt, the revs fall to near stall levels.

Try this: next time you slow down, try pumping the accelerator pedal to bring up the revs after clutching (heal toe). If it does not stall then it's carb running too lean at idle. If you clutch, accelerate and it still stalls, then it's something else (more expensive!).

Good luck!

i know mine does?
Can you fix it for me/

That completely sounds like what mine was doing,

Except, the motor was completley knackered, and likely the crank too - shown by these thrustwashers, and the clutch was also basically non-existant,
so i suppose it wasnt the clutch then?

A good carby tune up fixed it though, and all the above problems seemed to be not effecting idle much

Mine was doing EXACTLY the same thing on the weekend. Revvs had dropped from about 1000 to under 500 and wouldnt stay on.
Took it to a friends house (mechanic) and the idle adjustment screw was unwinding itself. All he did was replace the screw and spring and voila, fixed!

well guess what... in typical mini style i went for a drive today to do the tests suggested to me and the car was running fine.....WTF i do not know what is going on with this car.
Dad suggested water might have gotten somewhere as i sploshed through some puddles... would that effect it? so now i have to cancel the appointment with the mini guy... bet after i do that it will start stopping again eh.
