I have been having a lot of problems with Australia Post. Their parcel deliveries are done by private contractors that are more usless than the couriers. One parcel was delivered to one of my neighbours and they opened it to see if it was worth pinching. When I complained at the post office they replied "We have been getting a lot of complaints about the contractors"

Yea on two separate occasions I could hear a car come to a halt near my house - I look out the 2nd floor window - its the mail contractor - he pops out of his car, chucks a "sorry we missed you" note into my mailbox and reverses out - all in 30 seconds, all without knocking on my door - the time is 13:45 and the note says pick it up from the post office at 2pm - so he obviously was running late.
. On several other occasions they leave the same note, where I know I was at home during the time stated.
Plus they regularly leave smaller parcels inside my mailbox - A nice touch, but smaller parcels are actualy boxes so they are much larger than the crack in the mailbox and the mailbox has a new lock in it, so they must break into it every single time to put the parcels inside.

Asking the fine people at the local post office about the 'sorry we didnt want to knock on your door so we missed you" notes - they just roll their eyes.

Still better than bloody couriers though, especialy the one that the biggest supplier of mini parts in the UK uses - that courier is the worst company in the world - ever.

Auspost is cheap and the parcel is generally in reasonable nick, on the other hand I have never even seen a contractor on the doorstep, you should have got video evidence of them turning up Mike, I assumed that they teleport the "post awaiting collection" slip into the letterbox. The price difference still makes them worthwhile though.

I have had these issues before and just to let you know the UK sends there stuff over and most of the time it is passed onto a local courier company and then the damage is done, packingin is the biggest hassle with parts and when a company pays peanuts they get monkeys packing. I have always been under the impression that in the UK they have a returns bin for Uk residents and on the other side its written international orders only, cos we live far away we wont complain, not me they wont even talk to me much any more now cos if its damaged in anyway i want a refund or a new part.

TNT lost 2 sets of omega pistons and after a 2 month battle TNT sued the local couriers to get the money back so they could pay for a new set and funny it arrived fromt he uk in 3 days, why cant they do that normally with a letter of appology.

Sent 1 set of flares to south africa finally get there and 1 flare is broken so contact is made but my mate signed for them and thats it no compensation after the signiture is written.
I always write this item is unchecked cos of internal damage.
I could write a book on my experiences with couriers and postal work.

!last funny one, i had some urgent impoertant documents to send over to south africa so i asked a really good mate of mine at DHL what it would take to get them there in 3 days he assured me no problem i paid and off they went well 3 days passed and no documents 1 week passed no documents finally he tracked them down and they were in madagaskar (funny way to spell south africa) they couldnt leave for another 4 days cos the flight only comes in 1 time a week, but what happended was it got put in the wrong bin in joburg south africa and sent over when they realised they couldnt deliver it cos the place didnt exist in madagaskar they just put it to one side instead of making a note of it.
Amazing it got there 1 week late and all my money and efforts were wasted cos someone doesnt do there job properly.

Unfortunately Aus Post have size limitations on parcels.

Australia posts Maximum dimensions for parcels are 105cm in length and 140cm girth.

This is a shame, because I reckon they handle goods quite well.
