Ok... just looking for alternatives to original speedos as I would just like to have the speedo and tacho directly in front of me and the other gauges elsewhere. The clubbie 2 gauge doesn't have a tacho and the don't really need to see the fuel level and temp everytime I look at a clubbie 3 gauge.

So, does anyone NOT use an original speedo? What do you use and did anything need to be done to it to get it to work in a mini?

I put in an MG speedo for testing and by the time I am at the end of the street I'm doing 120MPH

the Speedo cable just fits straight on but I think a little calibration is needed. It might have something to do with the tiny tens

If you go VDO or Autometer, both do electronic speedos. Run off a sensor on the pot joint or wherever, you can program them to be spot on.

No. But there are little boxes available that convert the cable speed at the speedo. Try Olympic Instruments.

someone was running a triumph herald one. its the same size as a mini, goes to 200 km/h and has a trip meter.

I'd pic up a set of guages from a Jag XJ6. These can be had cheap as the cars themselves aren't worth much at all.

The guages are Smiths, and the speedo is 120mph with a trip meter.

Simular to this...
