While my mechanic was talking with the Launceston mechanic about my rebuild, there came the issue of not having a suitable crank,

Then the Launny mechanic spoke of the racing class in Tassie, soley devoted to 1100cc minis, hence the shortage of good 1100cc cranks, as the racers got the first pick

I have no idea when these races were and am still (struggling) to find any info about the class.

its a long shot im sure

but does anyone know any specific info about this class,
just for my own, and others own knowledge base :P

http://www.longfordraces.com

As i almost cliked the submit previously
i find this

about the Longford track
a random quote from the site
Quote:
More than 15% of Tasmania's population turned up to the first race meeting in 1953.

This is the first info id ever seen on it after only hearing a few times

The picture section on the site is great
they got them from another site
but the pictures of everything, the old Jaguars, ferrari, mustangs, FJs, cortinas. beetles, and of cause the minis (and those flat cars , i dont know what they are :? maserati actaully i think ) and the Grand Prix
one of my favourite ones there i saw was a mini chasing an FJ around the corner at the pub in the middle of town,
amazing photos :!:
do have a browse if at all interested
