Couple of questions I need help with on the new project 1360 build:?

1. Which way round does the spider/star drive dog face - curved side towards the cam, with flat side towards the oil pump, or vice versa?

2. MS Superflow spider drive oil pump has four mounting bolt holes three of which appear to line up with those in the block. The old pump only had two mounting bolt holes. Is it prudent to make use of the extra hole in the new MS pump and fit another bolt, or just use the two bolts from the old pump mounting?

1. It's been so long, I'm not sure..

2. The extra top hole is because that pump (with a pin drive shaft) is also used in Cooper S block. Use the 2 holes, it's fine.

Warning... Thses star drive pumps are OK, but.. lots of people lately have been breaking pin drive shafts in the S `Sureflow' pumps. They are made out of soft crap. :x
DON'T REV THEM WHEN COLD AND OIL PRESSURE HIGH...
<edit> If building a motor with S cam, I'd look at alternatives...

The spider can actually go either way round,,,it still does the job no problemo

however,,,what i do is put the flat side to the cam & the extended nose side to the pump
