I'm interested in this as well.
My Cadiz GT project has Navy Blue seats and door panels but Black carpet, or what used to be Black carpet, and Black trim around the dash and instruments.
I was told that all cars had Black dash and instrument panel trim and Black carpet.
So what is correct???
Puzzling.

Regards
RonR

My 72 cadiz GT had a very light tan interior, almost white but not :) I supose you might call it bone, the carpets where light tan and the seatbelts where brown

I had a look at my GT today and the carpet (or what remains of it) looks to be almost white in colour! I am sure it is the same colour as the seats (kidskin - very light 'off white' colour) and the seat belts are also light in colour (see pic).

You're right about the trim around the dash and instruments being black in all cars.
My green car originally had blue trim and blue seat belts - car was originally white. I'm also pretty sure that the door seals were the same colour as the trim as well. The upholstery has been painted black!
My Cadiz car has tan trim, tan carpets, tan seat belts and tan door seals.
My red car has tan trim, tan carpets, tan seat belts and tan door seals. This car was originally Hairy Lime.
My original GT was Hairy lime with Bone (almost white - like JAM has got) interior. I must admit that I don't remember what the colour of the carpets was in this car (30 years ago!), but everything else was Bone. Thinking about it, it seems stupid to use this colour for carpets so maybe they had black carpets, although if Anton has some original carpet with his...........
There does not appear to be any link between car colour and trim colour. Must have used whatever was closest at the time!

Regards
Gavin

The only other 'Gambier Turquoise' GT's I've seen have had black interior (including the carpets).

Anton - you need to go to a MCCNSW Restoration panel meeting one month. The members there have archives of BMC/Leyland info. They'd be the people to talk to.

I emailed him a while back regarding info on our 004 GT. Didn't have any info about GT's. If it was a Cooper S on the other hand.......

Cooper S...of course....

This is why I am a proud GT owner..... rarer than a Cooper S, and quite a mysterious piece of Australian motoring history :D

If you get down this way you should catch up with Howard Teague, he has a gambia GT he has owned from new, its all original except for the stripes being removed and the wheels, it hasn't been on the road for many years but last time I saw it was in damned good condition and the interior was almost like new, I helped him about 15 years ago rebuild the motor, I think its a 71 all black interior, Mick (9YA) should have contacts for him through the club

A one owner GT would be very rare! I'd love to see it and have a chat with the owner. Can't say I get down your way too often, but if I was heading that way I would surely be interested in a chat.

Let's say, you have a 71 clubman shell. The interior has been removed, but it is correctly plated as a GT. ( Interiors can be bought ) It has the correct badges and grill, twin tanks but no radiator shroud. We all know plates can be obtained through EBay or collectors, grills / badges obtained from suppliers and cars correctly painted. Mk11 engines or 1100s engines can easily be found.
How do you know you have a genuine GT or a 71 Clubman replica ?
I'm trying to work out if the radiator shroud is the only difficult thing that tells if a car is fake or genuine. I was just looking at the miniimports car as a subject.

So matching plate, engine and radiator shroud is the only way you know you have the genuine article. No stampings, pressings, floor pans etc ?

It should have M23 stamped into the bulkhead as well.... just above the master cylinder.
