by mk2 u mean brittish mk 2? if so it is possible but you need a bonnet lip put on to attach the top section, they look quite good on mk1's, maybe because there arent alot of them over here, i know in england the like changng to mk1 grilles.

I reckon they look crap, but each to his own.... an aussie mini would look just the same as a UK one with that grille, the body underneath is identical, and you just need to make a lip to hold the top of the surround and rivet it to the bonnet. Talk to brickworx etc. about it...

I doubt if anyone in australia has done it... let alone take pictures

the 'bit of body' I think you're talking about on an aussie car is the moustache, it's screwed on. This pic is a good example cos it's the only chrome bit on the front of the car...

Image

here's my van, it doesn't have the moustache, cos it's had a bad repair and the moustache doesn't fit

Image

pommy MK2+ grilles don't use he moustache (as you've realised) the top part of the surround is on the bonnet, and I think it comes down over the bit of body that the moustache covers. The side parts of the surround are seperate, and screw on where the moustache should be.

it's hard to describe without a diagram etc. - go see brickworx, undo the 6 or so screws that hold your moustache and grille on, and stick a rover one on to see what it looks like - 10 minute job tops.

.

I reckon its been done a fair few times - here's one below. Thats what a UK MK2 Cooper S grille looks like - the normal MK2 UK Morris minis had similar shaped grilles but with more slats.

Can be easily done but you'll have to add more holes to hold the whole thing i place which would then show if you were to fit an MK1 grille back on. I reckon the best way to do this is to pop rivet the separate parts together and then use two central mounting points with the quick removal knobs on them.
