ep91 came out after 95?? i think. They had a slightly different turbo ct9a instead of the ct9 in the ep82, think they had 3-4 more hp..

What kms do they have on them?? mine had 88 000kms and was $2000 for 93 ep82.

Also dont always believe what kms are on them as most are wound back. Just by looking at the engine sometimes you can tell if the kms are close, or open up the cam cover and see how clean it is in there.

For $300 more i go the lower km one and you also get a better dash you can use or sell.

the ep91 (for $1800) is 70,000km and the ep82 (for $1500) is 145,000km...if its just a choice based on that i'd be stupid not to get the ep91...i would have thought...both are running and in good mechanical order (according to the wrecker)...he wants a $500 deposit with payment of the balance within 2 months...

Where are they Drew? Place I was telling you about? If you can, go check them out. I believe some of the EP91's have a balancing shaft like the GTI's do. You might have gotten lucky and found one of those. Maybe the EP91's have ABS too. Could be a handy module to sell......

hmmm...apparently the ep91 they have is basically just motor (no radiator) and gearbox...they said it looks like it was hit on the front-end...and most of the passenger side is missing :P no dash or anything...the ep82 is in MUCH better condition apparently...its more or less a complete front...wheels, shocks, dash...everything...its got 146,000km on the clock though...seems like quite alot to me...both motors run though...

i am leaning more toward the ep82 now...although the number of kms it has is a bit worrying...might try other wreckers to see if they have anything...

what do you guys think?

Mine is an ep82 front cut and had 131k on it and cost me $1,650. Found the turbo was seized which did not bother me as at the same time I got a T25g. You will find that most Jap places do not give any warranty on the turbos themselves.

I sold the parts that i did not need at a discounted rate just to get rid of them and got $500 for them, if my panels had not been damaged i would have been able to pick up a bit more.

Funny, nobody was interested in the ABS, so it will go to the recyclers.

The EP91 has the coil inside the dizzy, otherwise externally they pretty much look the same.

would it be worth going the one with 147,000km on it for $1500? the ep91 sounds a bit...i dunno...you dont get much with it...which is annoying...you dont even get a radiator :P

hmmmm...nothing...none of the other wreckers have anything better...most dont have anything at all...the best one looks like either the ep91 or the ep82 as mentioned before...but which one?

It'd be a big bonus for you if either of them have a factory LSD.....
I'd be more worried about the damage to the wiring loom than the missing radiator, as there's no way you'd fit a starlet radiator in a mini anyway. If the EP91 cut has front damage, look for damage around the turbo/exhaust manifold.

it's a hard question without seeing them, but i wouldnt be too worried about the k's on the ep82 cut.....toyotas are very well built, and you shouldnt have any problems with it. I'd say that'd be about average k's for an EP82 cut.

Jeremy

bought the ep91...its missing a few things...had a small prang on the passenger side...but runs awesomely...has factory LSD and ABS...missing passenger side shocker and hub/wheel assy...but everything looks good other than that...been canibalized for a few bits n pieces (radiator for 1) but looks like a good donk...

LSD too - lucky sod!
Try & get the wrecker to throw in an electric fuel pump too - either the donor car one or anything from a 2L NA motor will do. Lots cheaper than buying a Bosch one later
