hey!

check out this avatar from FATKiD - it's the back of his south african clubman estate, it flashes that badge, so it must be from over there...

Image

jeez, I actually looked at the avatar as it flashed away and gave me an epileptic fit... hard on the eyes they are...

[edit] - it flashes up Austin MINI Clubman instead of Morris, but you get the idea

Yea i've seen a few of those badges around but with Austin instead of Morris, I'll try and find a Morris one. I'll post a large pic up of mine

I'm replacing it with a "clubman estate" badge i got of ebay, I have another one somewhere if anybody wants it pm me.

We dont want anybody having epileptic fit's on here

So in South Africa was the Clubman sold under the Morris and Austin badges instead of Leyland? Were the Southies never afflicted with the Leyland name? Half their bloody luck...

95% of searches on google for "austin mini estate" and "morris mini clubman" came up with UK, US & European sites.

chow - Yes the Zuid Afrikans got the Leyand name.

Morris entered S.A in 1948, and first imported Minors.
Minis were first imported or assembled from CKD kits from 1960 by BMC

BLMC was formed in 1968 by BMC, Jaguar and Aveling-Barford's operations were merged with Leyland Motor Corporation South Africa (or Leykor as it was known) and were built untill 1983/84 when the factory was closed.

So the very early minis - pre 68' were Morris
From 1968 - 1984 they were first badged as austin and then later leyland

I'll get some more detailed info from my mechanic who has had his Mini workshop sine the early 1970's
