How ever, i must have done something to the dash light. it doesnt work anymore when the head lights are on.

Is there a fuse or something i should check and where??

You may have knocked the 'adjuster' there is a little knob under the dash on the right hand side labelled 'P' ...turn the parker lights on and trun this around and see if you can get some light, this usually adjusts the brightness...
