Toyota are (as is most Japanese manufacturers) renowned for making just about everything interchangable. Don't be suprised is the gearset from the 4EFTE box doesn't fit straight in. To give you an example, two week ago, I pulled the seat out of my sisters '94 starlet and bolted it STRAIGHT INTO my Dad's early 70's model Landcruiser. I crap you not.

.....plus dont forget you have to make a additional tunnel down the car.. $$$ then.. if you will need the boot space for the Diff.. list goes on..
You will only need to 'widen' the existing tunnel. It's only an eight foot long, 12inch wide rolled bit of sheet metal. There's ten minutes and coupla hunji bucks to give you the room you need. Fitting it won't be difficult at all. And as for the diff, piece of piss, consider the trouble you and I and others are going to fit these motors into mini. Next time you see a Scooby Doo look at the rear dif, it would struggle to be 6 inches tall. Modifying the boot floor, as you know, aint that hard. Making new rear suspension arms would be a challenge but quite achievable given the right amount of determination. The driveshaft would need to pass through where the dry cone is but easily fixed with a pair of coilover and you could even use the rear subframe still. All you would need to do is build a kind of 0 around the drive shaft. Easy as. You may get the drift i've given this some thought. I wanted to do this to the gti motor.
