Hey all,

The guys from adelaide jap dismantlers suggested i use a AMR500 supercharger for my mini. They say its from a 1ltr nissan and they want $225 .... anyone had experience with these superchargers?

AMR500, same as what I previously had. They are actually sourced from MANY different cars in Japan, not just Nissans. Mine was Subaru based.

They are very compact, rootes type supercharger which are self lubricated, and only displace 500cc of air (the Toyota SC12 Im replacing it with displaces 1200cc  )

The Nissan Pulsar N12 water pump pulley is the perfect size for driving the AMR500. You will need to get this pulley grafted/mounted to your harmonic balancer. OR you take a mini's harmonic balancer and machine the flat section to suit a 4-ribbed Poly Vee belt.

My advice, unless you are very precise in getting things to be parallel, take it to a professional to get the mounting kit made.

Not by a long shot, junior.

These things are going thru the roof. I did a crap load of calling around last week, all the suppliers are out. $350 was the lowest but they had none available. City dismantlers had just the one for $490.

$150 yeah right.... take me to your dealer

The best option would be import a WHOLE AW11 Supercharged MR2, then strip it and sell off the parts to some toyota boys. Or keep the blower, then convert the Mr2 to turbo and make it a race car. They handle well.....

No way... for $150 I wouldn't suck anything.

I tried all those wreckers out north that I could find. Have now tried calling people who are going to Japan themselves 8)

I'd buy more than 2 if I could get em for 150 each, for sure. Lucky bastard.

There are a couple different models of that supercharger....
The AMR300 (which displaces 300cc of air)
and the ARM500 (which displaces 500cc of air)
They may be more too.....

They are 95% similar on the outside visually, and I believe they are identical in size. Dont quote me on that though. Both the superchargers are made by AISIN. They are found factory fitted in many different cars, and in each case the inlet and outlet pipes are different to suit that particular car. Would be very easy to ditch those pipes, and have some custom made to suit the mini's engine bay.

I have left more detail on another thread previously.....

Greetings.
I found this forum via a google-search of "AMR500 and BMC"
I was looking at charging my 1098 sprite with an Aisin AMR300.
I reckon I'll have to spin it so fast to work, that a lot of the benifit will be lost.
However, for those of you who know them, I have seen a few installation pics on the net and am wondering why you cant turn it upside down....?
the pulley will still turn the correct way,
the rear cover can be removed and replaced right way up for oiling.
then the manifold plumbing is greatly shortened, and your carby isn't sitting over the headers getting heated air.
I took the rear cover off my amr300, and saw the letters UP cast in, telling you to put it pulley skywards(i.e the rotor with the pulley above the driven rotor), but I see no reason for that, seeing its a sealed chamber and very symmetrical .
I'm now seeking an amr500, and will be wanting to install it pulley down if possible.
The only possible reason i can figure is the belt tension

The AMR 300 are too small may be just OK for a 850
I tried using one on a 998 had to spin it that fast that it sounded like it was going to fall apart and it only made 3psi of boost and no real power increase
The AMR 500 would be better ,but I now use a SC12 of a toyota 4agze and make kits to fit them to mini's

Do you know where to find a pulley so I can lose the clutch system? Little bastard weighs almost 8 pounds (17.6 kg.). It not much, but some people's flywheels only weighs 8.5 pounds.
