Cant get good performance with injection on a head that shares 4 inlet valves with 2 ports!

at our club dyno day a couple of weeks ago, there was about 15 1275 mini's (including 1 SPI injected one). The carby ones (single HS4's, single HIF44's, twin's, Webers) ranged from 48hp (atw) for a 1310 moke with a single HS4, to 60hp+ for a few of the other minis with twins and HIF44's. The Rover SPI got 43hp.

what if the carby engine is only 1000cc?

would u guys still opt for the 1000cc carby as compared to the 1275 spi?
so im guessing its (slightly more powerful to the fuel injected engine but not as reliable?)

Power comes from the size of the bang
the size of the band comes from the control of the fuel

Carbies - you twiddle the knobs directly - lots of adjustment that you can make - therefore you can easily "tune" them in to get the highest available power[assuming you know how - that leaves me out]

Injected - you twiddle the computer - sealed computer box - no direct user adjustment - preset for "average all round needs' not for outright power. You can get software to do the computer adjustment but it is a specialist and expensive tool. [compared to the srewdriver used to adjust carbies]

In theory Injection gives more presise computer control of fuel supply and therefore should be able to deliver the maximum power output capable of any motor it is fitted to...
but in practice it is so difficult [for the average owner] to make the adjustments that it is not attempted and most accept the lower power all round usage settings.

alright think im gonna pass on the 91 carby model

for those whose interested - lookup the tradingpost on NSW, theres this 91 rover mini thats goin for 8900neg (with 13inch n sportflares) but not the sportpack rims

if onli it was a 1.3i....

think u can bargin it down to say 6grand?.....looks just like the 93-94 models
