Post subject: Where is your tacho
PostPosted: Sat Apr 03, 2004 9:20 am
just installed tacho into my mini,
i sat there for about half a hour trying to think...where should i put the damn thing,i didnt want it on the dash coz i dont want to get a defect,i dont want it under the dash rail looking up coz ya carnt see it,it ended up on the right of the stock gauges, but it didnt look real good,iv how got it mounted on the dash rail looking up at me,so my question is,where do you put your tacho's and can you see them very well?

here is a pic of where the tacho is at now,

I got a 3-dial dash.
if you track one of them down, its only 2 wires and your home 'n hosed.

personally I wonder how you see the fuel and temp with the tacho there :?
why dont you move the original dials towards the center (only 4 bolts through the firewall to shift the frame) and make your own 3-dial setup wit your new tacho.

I mounted my 3" tacho in a piece of 75mm PVC tubing, painted the tube black, cut the end of the tube on an angle and screwed it to the fire wall, right top side of the dash.

bobtel,
my first tacho was a smiths and it was the same as yours,in a tube with the back cut on a 45,but it was to hard to mount and i didnt realy like the look of it that much,i got it for nothing as it was my dads out of a holden (YUCK),post up some pic's can ya?thanks
and TZi,
i coverd it over coz the tempo gauge is dead, and the fuel gauge aint connected,im going to be running arfter market gauges in the dash so that is why i coverd it up,and as for the 2 lites that are also coved up,im going to be running a red and blue LED lites on the dash,so by me covering it up,makes it look batter, gives me clear indication of what RPM im doing,i couldent realy see it real well eany where else, coz on the dash is defectable,so ill be able to see what iv coverd up on the dash with a bit more style :D :D thanks for the feed back

Mine was easy - mines a morris....

See steve at birickworx racing, edwardstown, he's got Rover 3 dial dashes for sale... they're easy to fit if you're dash is in pieces already...
