Thinking exhausts for the Mini1000.

I'll be going the Wildcat (LCB) extractors.
And maybe even a straight thru system with no muffler...
what would this sound like?
Compression would be around 10:1 or a bit higher.

The pipe would still exit at the extreme rear, just no muffler.

So good idea? or not.
Backpressure?
Decreased torque?

:?

You have to have a muffler to race it.

CAMS sets the rules. 8)
Muffler is required just like a crash helmet is required.
The exhaust must not exceed 95dba.
A mini without a muffler willexceed 95. (A HQ without a muffler gets about 92 but CAMS insist that it has a muffler!)

Now, Who says what a muffler is? It is a big bit of pipe with two smaller bits of pipe poking out of it.
What is inside a Muffler? On most race cars there is a bit of pipe to conect the other two bits of pipe! 8)
Or in other words... It looks like a muffler but is a fake! On a mini it will not be enough so you get a drill and knock a lot of holes in the bit of pipe inside the muffler or you could buy a Hod Dog.

My road 998 is running 3 into 1 extractors and I'm using the straight through muffler from an MGB 1800. If its big enough for that it's big enough for a 998. No back pressure and the pipe size is about right to keep the gas flow up to speed.

I've got 2 brand new Lukey mufflers in the shed. Went out of production years ago. They have the best sound of any muffler I've ever heard on any Mini and they are straight through as well.
