Hi All,

Am a new member and not very knowledgeable in things Mini. I have been given a 1972 Mini Clubman and would like to know what size engine it has as this is not listed anywhere on the vehicle.

I have searched the internet and found that the VIN corresponds to a 1098cc engine but I have been assured by the vehicles owner that it was only an 848cc. Is this possible?

The VIN is YG2S7 6767 build 8/72 and the Engine Number is 1017317. Any help would be greatly apprecited.

Regards
David

Could the engine number be missing a digit?
The first four numbers should be 1001.

Hi Makka,

Many thanks for that. The vehicle has been semi restored (new paint) and I was just wondering if it was worthwhile to do the motor if it was the higher capacity engine which it is.
