Yep - Done the "drop the dizzy drive cog down in the gearbox" thing.

Its a pull out the motor and cry job.

THE MORAL IS - ALWAYS SCREW A LONG BOLT INTO THE COG BEFORE ATTEMPTIMG TO MOVE IT.

The bolt that holds the front bottom engine engine mount and radiator bracket is a good one to use.

Too true. I welded a bit of rod onto a bolt since we couldn't buy a long one on a Sunday. Crappy hardware's around here had no UNF, only UNC.

I think I also remember manouvering the dog and trying to get the bolt into it before dewey worked out he could turn the engine over a little and get the crank to wedge it while he screwed the bolt it.

Fun & games...

after reading all the banter some one beat me to it with a long bolt from the engine mount will do it perfectly.

I keep them spare when i have to move the drives or even just putting them in, the other point is the A+ motors you cant drop them in there as they dont fit thru the hole, one of the good things that came out with the A+ motor.

good luck with it and a motto is never work on your mini when pi55ed.
my mate and i found out one night after rebuilding a whole motor stepped back and tripped over 4litres of empty brandy bottles we had consumed over the night, needless to say it was hilarious and the motor ran for one day before we stripped it down to do it sober. Man was it a laugh.
