Bear in mind that a model T is a trully antique car (as said with a side valve engine, archaic gear system and rear only, cable operated brakes as well as the semi eliptic leaf spring suspension setup of your horse drawn wagon) and was considered out of date and obsolete even by the mid to late 1920;s so its not feasible as any sort of transport, bar the occasional fun run.

Might be a good hairloom though, but I'm sure there are many thousands of them left in the US (as many millions were made in the US as well as the UK etc) where they have a cult following.

Well , my 2 bob's worth is to get the T model if you can afford it while keeping your 850 and then try and work out a "loan for display" deal with a museum closer to where you are , that way the museum get's a good car to display and you get the car stored under cover in a clean safe place , while still (normally) being able to get it out and use it with a reasonable amount of notice to the museum . Don't know if it's ppossible but it's worth looking into , it'd be a shame to have it pass out of the family after all that time .

I bet once you saw it, the decision is made - the Model T

Its in wonderful condition but certainly not a daily driver - the museum loan idea with the caveat of club day use sounded good to me.

I'd have to see it with some 10" wheels on it to really tell if I like it.

Hmm........ each to their own. Suppose you would also like it with 427 cubes, fibreglass body etc.

Looked very good to me as it is.

It was a joke. I'm Canadian not american so that is a no go with the 427. It would be nice restored, but I think if it were to be hot rodded maybe a nice turbo rotary would fit in there nicely.
I guess a stock one would be a little more rare to see in Aus, they always show up at car events here in north america. My neighbours dad has a nice one that is restored and he drives it regularly and my girlfriend's neighbour has one as well.

I knew it was a joke actually and the replyy was also tongue in cheek

We have quite a large hot rod fraternity and some very well and expensively prepared hot rods. Mostly made from hand made chassis and and fibreglass bodies.

The vintage cars are fairly rare by comparison and should be kept as such - thats just my opinion though.

We are constantly bombarded with tv and movie images of the US and I guess we assume canada is culturely the same. I know little about Canada in comparison about what I know about the states. Although, increasingly we are seeing US movies made in Canada. Same US heros driving the same US cars though

since you asked, and now i know what you were saying. i agree with morris 1100 and clubmn it pretty much is impractical to use.. the roads these days arent even that friendly to such slow cumbersome cars. it sure is a beaut classic but IMO it is probably best in a museum and only driven occasionaly to keep it going, where it can be seen and appreciated for generations to come. but it really really should be black in a museum... since "they came in any colour, as long as its black"...a mini on the other hand is still a very practical classic..
at the end of thre day though tis your call... if it was my call it would be that big block..but thats just my opinion and we all know opinions are cheap (unless you sell them on EBAY).. hmmmm now theres an idea.....

Are you having to buy it or is it being passed down to you if you want it ? I know I've said this before but it'd be a shame to have let it out of the family . Imagine in 50 years time talking to your grandkids saying you could have had your grandfathers car and it would have been in the family for 150 years or so , that would be a claim that would be hard to beat . Find somewhere to hide it , put it up on blocks and start it every now and then to keep it servicable for when you do have time .
