Heyyyya guys

Ive done a search and found the info i needed.

But what i need to ask now, is for your opinions.

Do you feel much of a difference after fitting hi-los?? Thats Hi-Los only..using the old cones, and adjusting so that the car is sitting level.

so yeh, better performance and comfort or not for me???

cheeeeers

Kaden.

Hi-Los just allow you to easily adjust corner heights. No ride improvement, in fact if your cones are old and flattened you would be better getting new cones too.

They let you compensate for uneven settling in the cones but if you've got that then you shouldn't keep the old cones.

I love my hi-los because they mean I never have to swear like a trucker to get the springs out or work on the suspension. No need for spring compressors and no fuss.

If you are a racer you can corner-weight your car by adjsting them but if you're that serious you may have coilovers??

I actually think it improved my handling....
It feels stiffer..... I'm thinking that the increased surface area on the Hi-Lo is causing a rise in spring rate !

not a lot, but noticable.....

Also, got mine sitting real low, so my suspension angles are closer to horizontal .....

yeah, just as i thought.

Some of you feel it helps, and others dont.

New cones are quite expensive arent they?? Apparently 100dollars a corner??

IF anyone else has anything to add, keep it coming!

cheers

I replaced got hi-lo's all round and replaced the front cones only and the difference in handling and ride quality was night and day, so much better.

Don't buy NEW ones!!!
Get thee to a wrecker, & take some good rear ones off an unsuspecting Clubby.
Rears don't settle down near as much as fronts do- there's no weight there.
But do check the nuts in the cones have good threads in `em.

Don't need nuts in rear cones. Don't know if all are the same (someone will I'm sure) but ones I've seen were blank. Doesn't mean you can't use them in the front, just can't use a cone compressor and flatten your fingers doing the job so it's an in built safety factor.

real late rear ones? or rear replacements were blank, I agree you can fit these into fronts but it means top arms out.
I assumed most people would use the compressor...

The rear ones I'm running at the moment were good height front ones that the threads were stuffed so now they are on the rear and I'm running good rear ones from a van on the front cos I heard they were a bit stiffer. Again, someone will tell me if I'm wrong (apart from my wife and that doesn't count, that's habit)

I don't know if we might of melted some of the rubber in the cone but we drilled and welded a nut on the bottom of the blank cones so we could use the cone compressor. It seemed to work OK.

My front cones came from the rear of a wreck. They looked like they had very little use. When fitted in the front  most people saw the result!!

I bought Hi-Lo's to drop the front ride height. Worked like a charm, but did absolutely nothing for ride comfort / handling.
