Not many people read the introduce yourself so I thought I'd post the questions he had for him in here:

Benmcf1 wrote:
Now here is my first question for the day. . Would a mini deluxe door fit to a Morris windowed van? Or is more detail on each car required before anyone can say?

Second question for the night is..... The van came with a second set of rear doors, But they are off a Leyland van (still have the badge on them). Are these an interchangeable part or do I need to sauce some Morris ones?
I know I could just try changing the doors to find out, but this seems so much easier.

Oo, oo, another question is... how the hell do I get into a locked deluxe boot if I don?t have a key?

Answer for question 3 - I don't see why you wouldn't be able to undo the boot hinges and slide/wiggle/etc the boot off.

umm... welcome :)

1/ yep, the catch mechanism should be the same, as long as they have the same handle - a clubman door wouldn't work

2/ yep, rear doors are the same

3/ I reckon the nuts inside would turn if you undid them from the outside as they're not captive, but it might give you enough to wiggle it down - you could pull it open, but easiest is trying a heap of different keys, there are only a few different ones

RE: item no 3:

There is sometimes a hole in the metal panel that forms the back of the rear seat can you get at the back of the lock that way? otherwise take it to / get a locksmith to come and have a look for you

Rumour has it that Mini Spares up here in Padstow has a dirty big ring with lots of Mini keys on it. Take car, and they would have key to fit.

I'd start by ringing around Mini places down there.. you could get lucky.

another ben??? FFS!!! hanh i'm just kidding, welcome to ausmini :D

trying different keys is prob your best option, i tried my dads keys on my mates mini today and i can get in but i can't start it, and she can get into dads. so you never know.

also if you recently bought the car maybe wherever you got it from has found some more mini stuff? its worth a look/phone call...

just read your introduction-so you did get them dammit! I was looking at the van, I offered him $100 for it and he said if no one bought it by the weekend i could have it. So close and yet so far! you don't wanna resell the van do you? oh, here is a pic of benmcf1's buys-

I soooo want a morris van

So how much you get them for? I think he was asking $400 for the van and $600 for the deluxe?

By the way, just to share some info, a mate of mine ran a check on the vans rego and it came up that it is fine-just expired

Yea they are the ones from blackwood.
Thanks for the info on the van. I ment to run a check before i bought them but forgot.
I got them both for $400. The deluxe is for bits then scrap but the van was the main goal. Rolled him in the shed on sunday and am going to try to fire him up this arvo, just to see what its like. My instinct tells me poo, but you never know. I figured it was a good buy just on account of the rims, webber and body. The body isnt to bad a few little holes to patch, a couple of doors and a good full metal rub and with any luck bingo a good van.
With the key's. I tryed all the ones i had and a mate's to, No luck my mates screen door got the petrol cap of and my lil red 1100's door key turns the ignition but noting will get the boot. So i just stuck a screwdriver through the rust at the bottom of the boot next to the hinge and levered it open. A little crude i know but there is nothing on the body that can be salvaged so i figured what the hell.
I've got to say though it breaks my heart to wreck that poor old deluxe.

I have 2 mini's, if you are down south, you are welcome to try them-the keys that is! Good luck trying to start the van, bloke told me it had siezed-but, it is a 1275 with a weber so it would be fantasic if you can get it fired up. Good luck, keep us posted on your progress

oh, by the way, I dont think you can feel bad about the deluxe, the body appeared too far gone to me

I dont hold a lot of hope. I think a ring or two were sezed cos when i pulled the plugs, put it in forth, and rocked it a bit it clicked free. So i imagen the bore's are shot. but if i can get him to fire, just to see if some of the other bits work i would be happy. The posibility of a re-bore is something for another day. I still have a 1275 motor in the shed waiting for a rebuild. So as i can put it back in my daily driver. Now i dont know though, Maybe the van will need it more.
Hmm. . . . Maybe they both need one

Nah the dash has faded alot and all the varnish has cracked away. But there is the option of sanding it all back and covering it in something.
Ahhh the posibilities. I'm just going to need a second and third job, and some favourable lotto numbers.
