I'm looking at buying a very original Morris 1300 ; automatic.
Drives well, hydro good, body very good.
Very limited rust (only slight surface rust in the two passenger side doors)

So... what can people tell me bout them.
I'm very interested as i can see it being a very good cruising car.
Auto and all.

So yep...

The autos are weak and only last a short time if abused, they can be improved and made reliable.
The ride is very soft and floaty but you get used to it. Very comfortable for long trips. Look for rust in the floors, sills and boot.
Brake pads may be hard to find.

Excellent... thats the sort of stuff i'm looking at.
Yeah there will be strictly NO abusing the mighty 1300.
Just cruising... :)

Floors; perfect
Sills; perfect
Boot; one or two spots but pretty much spot on.

Ah the mighty Morris 1300 auto..
Last one we bought, we paid $100 for... 8)
Fixed the pinholes in the floor by brazing them all up, changed the oil and filter a few times, decked the head & changed the head gasket as it was overheating.
We then drove it for 4 or 5 years, no problems whatever.

Great car.

memo to owners- change that automatic's oil and filter OFTEN, and it'll keep on going...
By often, I mean 1500 miles max. No, I'm not joking...

Things are looking good.
I'll be paying around 15 times what you paid tho, Kev

Why does the oil need changing so regularly?

Remember that the engine oil also does the auto, so you have to use the right oil. (Penrite recomends ATF for the auto  )
It must be a non friction modified oil.

Any normal 20W/50 is OK- eg Valvoline SF20W/50, Castrol GTX, etc
NO SYNTHETICS....
