Yeah that's true. My car always smells of petrol fumes though, I got used to it :) When my carb backfires it sometimes smokes up inside the car, which I'm sure is very bad. Doesn't back fire often though which is good - the lynx filter says it's flame retardant I hope their right...

Only flame retardant if it has the good (flame retardant) oil on it, and is not soaked in fuel...

Hmm maybe I'll oil it then. Because I can just see it getting soaked in fuel (something to do with driving style maybe) and I don't particularly want to blow the car up, yes it's a good excuse for a rebuild, but....

It'll filter crap much better if you oil it. But use the proper stuff- either Finer Filter or UniFilter or Lynx oil.

You will probably need to stick them to the backplate with Araldite or something, then.
They need 2 screws each to hold them otherwise, as the `holes' are really 1/2 holes (slots).

Use Araldite- it sticks to alloy like poo to a blanket...

I once put an 1100S motor on an early 850 case- cut 4 bloody big holes in front to clear the rods. Some masking tape, araldite over that and then a coat of paint, it never leaked a drop! 8)
