what is the easiest way to bolt on the u bolts?
come up from underneath??

Most definately come up from the under side . Make sure you have it supported securely on stands. It is much easier if you can spin the front wheel to rotate the drive shafts. [so ramps are no good for this job] Just push in the U bolt into the appropriate place - then spin the wheel 180 degrees to turn the drive shaftes and u bolt and now putting on the nuts is a piece of cake.

If you are re-using the U-bolts, squeeze them in a vice first, so they are parallel and fit the yoke easy again. PITA to fit otherwise.

i also find that putting the car on stands and jacking the hub up a bit to make the driveshaft parallel with the ground helps with slipping the u-bolts in. once they are in just tighten up.

Probably a bit late now but I normally pull the driveshaft apart at the sliding joint and bolt the rubber uni's to the mounts completely while the motor's out , then juggle the whole lot back in (a little more fiddling but not much) . Next all you do is drop the top ball joints(ok , often top and bottom ball joints) on each wheel and lean the hubs out to get enough room to slide the driveshaft back into the sliding joint . A little more work when the motor's out and in fitting but anythings got to be better than lying on your back under the back of a mini motor .
