I have Beefa with Vigil and they seem to be treating me really well.
I also get 24 hour Roadside Assist with the insurance (which is a MUST with a Mini!).
It doesnt cost any extra to do it pay by the month, and I'm under 25 as well.

I'd recommend Vigil but it seems everyone else likes Shannons

Beefa, im with you.

When i was looking for insurance, i called shannons and they said 'because i did not do any of the restoration work myself they would only cover me for purchase price ($1500)' my response was 'so you wont insure my car because i would rather pay someone to do the job properly than f*%$ it up doing it myself'

Probably does not help that i was 18 at the time and wanted it insured for more than 10k. (Much less than i have spent on it).

I then gave a insurance broker a call (The same one my boss uses for all of his 'old' cars) who specialises in old cars.

Vigil was the best one. 8k coverage 24hr roadside etc...

If you want to call him, details are as follows

Austnet Insurance
Adam R
08 - 9473 8600

they have branches across oz, but Adam is good.

I had Ha-Ha insured with Vigil for years. No complaints, except every year they reduced the sum insured....
Hey it's a Mini, value should go UP! Or at least mark time... :?
When it hit $3K I decided- stuff it, & went with Shannons. Hardly any more $$ to insure it for $6K, and I get the usual Shannons benefits- windscreen, retain wreck, etc. :D

Barney is with them too, and the AU2 Ford....

My Dad had his 72 Pontiac LeMans (400ci) insured (historic rego) with RAA for nine years, until about two weeks ago - he got the annual renewal, it'd increased by 50% to about $450. Despite that he's had no recent accidents and is on the road about 14 hours a day (cab driver), and is 54.
He called Shannons and got quoted $250. Sadly, if I want to drive it, the premium increases to $500, so no eight for me.

um..makka,
like some1 said, u need a bit of experience on teh bike b4 they insure you..
also, your licence (P's on your big bike) would help!
hehe
ur silly!
i hav my lil charadey, the k, and the van with shannons..
(well, blake foots the bill)
for my charade, its average price, but pay by the month!
the corolla of blakes was also insured, unfortunatly some NUT cut thru orange and smashed him..was written off..took a few weeks (like 4?) for shannons to get the check..but hey, it was agreed value of 6.5k..which is good coz other insurance companies, the 'market value' would have been like 500 bucks .. whether or not it had been heavily modded.
he didnt have salvage rights, because he had owned it for less than 2yrs (less than 24hrs!) but had first dibs on buyin it back..which was nice, didnt want it, the engineering ADR rules have changed, was useless. but hey, if it was a mini, would want it.

i have a q, how come my lil charadey worth round the 2k mark, i cant get full comp for it while under 25? gah, it sucks..i should get da mini on the road n drive it 8)
hehe
