There were a lot more than 300 Mini K's with Clubman doors made. There was reputed to be 400 Cooper S with those doors and a couple of thousand K's, plus a few hundred vans.

My van was made Dec 1970 - a month or two newer and it would have had Clubby doors too!

Mine is dated 3/70 on the VIN plate, which is original..

I had a `69 as well, I sold it to 13secmini's family.

Look here
http://www.miniman.com.au/minihist3.htm

MiniMatic Mk2 came out Sept 68, it was pretty much like a K, but still 998 auto power... 8)

The Mini-K badge/decal thingo should be purple white and reflective silver (chrome?).... but not flat silver.. then it would be wrong.. :?

I love my Mini K.. you can make it up hills without a downchange, you can start in third, and it cruises effortlessly... Plus the 3 clock dash is a big bonus..

As BMC said... the mini K was the "big leap forward"!!

Just on BL takeovers, My dad's very late '71 K (clubbie door handles) also had the BL roundel logo in the middle of the steering wheel, rather than the BMC on my 69.

So you bought the mustard colour one from Goulburn, it was a bit rough around the edges.

So according to the timeline on Madmat's site, http://www.miniman.com.au/minihist3.htm the MK2 MiniMatic was released in Sept `68, months before the `Mini Deluxe Mk2 Mini K' was...
BTW, it also got the same alternator...

Max Sherry (Mini Mac) once showed me a strange Mini that had come in for some mechanical work.

It was a hydro roundnose with Clubman doors and a 998cc Auto under the bonnet. Strangely it was a drab olive green colour - looked like it was it's original colour as it was the same under the mats, in the boot, engine bay etc - all the places that don't nnormally get paineted when a car has acolour change. The compliance plate said 08/72! Maybe some sort of Army special order!

We could not work out if the Auto was original to the shell. Sadly I did not record the chassis number. :(

Classic Motoring has some of the K decals - unsure of the price though. Give them a look at Shop 2 60 Woolongong St Fyshwick

can someone tell me if $1780 for a new car was pricey or not?
what were some comparing prices, such as an average family car, a luxury 'untouchable' car, a good second hand car...
