Nope, the yellow Clubman van belongs to a guy in Hoppers Crossing. I spoke to him one day Weribee Swap. He's had the van for about 20 years and it's done over 400,000km (not on one engine).

My (blue) van is hibernating awaiting investigation of head gasket sealing issues.

The Moke is getting all the attention to be ready for Moke Muster. Then I'll fix the van. :(

Hey Brett,

Just a thought - I was having hassles with having to replace my head gasket stacks of times. Turns out that the block was no longer "flat". Had to get it machined to fix the problem.

Hooroo

Yeah, that's exactly what Peter (Bellarine Mini Centre) reckons may be wrong with mine. :(

EDIT: But the fact that my torque wrench was 15lb/ft out didn't help. I thought I was torquing to 42lb/ft, but was actually torquing to 25lb/ft.

Hmm........crook torque wrench heh!!!!!!!

Peter at BMC was the one who correctly identified the hassle with my block. In his words, we are dealing with 20 to 30 year old metal here and if the head has distorted over time, then it only stands to reason that the block will also "change shape".

Anyway, I was rebuilding an 1100 motor and to save any hassle, I got the block machined flat by the guys at North Geelong Engine Reconditioners. The new engine absolutely flies!!!!! :D
