Better

The ass swings around way nicer and is (i feel - maybe its just cos its auto) a lot easier to slide through a corner with the power down.

 Don't mock it till you try it.
The car wasn't built for abuse, but i'll train it to take it.

Nope... no thrashing just a bit of fun with the old (and hard) tires.

Steve did the engine mounts and the exhaust while the previous owner owned it.
The exhaust was patched when the previous owner still owned it, so you can't expect much from that.

I don't think the 1300 had them.
But I wouldn't mind one!

1300..?!
Landcrab..?!

Err, guys, the pics are of a Morris 1500.

They are nice pics too, but I should point out that the 1300 uses the 1275 (1100S motor in Australia) A Series engine, whereas the 1500 has a 1500cc overhead cam engine (I don't know the series type.) and five-speed gearbox with cable operated gear-change.

The Land Crab, as it is affectionately known, is the Austin 1800, which uses a B Series engine - like the MGB (for the Mk2 anyway).

The front grille is quite different on the 1500, whereas the 1300 and 1100 are very similar - and IMHO much better looking. Easiest way to tell the 1100 and 1300 apart is the taillights - 1300s are flat. Also, as stated, in Australia it would be an 1100 S, not a 1300.

So, the 1100 and 1100 S are both closely related to the Mini, kind of a big Mini with 4 doors (a Biggi perhaps?), whereas the 1500 and 1800 are quite far removed from the Mini/1100 concept, despite the initial similarity in appearances.

Here endeth the lesson.

Cheers, Watto.
