Hi

Im stripping my mini at the moment and was wondering what were some good rust converters or paints i can use over rust stops it . I need something i can use to get into tight spaces eg, inside the doors,

Ive been looking at white knights rust guard products for both rust converting and etch primer, do they work well???

I like the `Loctite' rust converter, it's in a white bottle with orange label. used to be called `Permatex' brand.
It's thick enough that you can paint it on and it will stay there.
I've used it on metal then left in the weather for months to see, and it's good.

I've tried the White Knight rust converter, it's more runny and makes a mess. I don't think it works as well either.

The absolute worst one I've used was Ranex, or Rainex (I always get these 2 mixed up). Didn't do squat for me.

Rainex must be the crap one, I found ranex works pretty damn good, but then again i have not really tried others.

We used to use a rust converter product named RSI which was awesome, you apply it like normal rust convertor then clean when finished and it would dry to form a primer surface that could be painted over.

Never had any trouble with it but for the life of me can't remember who makes it sorry.

The best stuff I ever came across was a product call "Navel Jelly" Its was in a 2 litre bottle and was as the name says a jelly that stayed put when painted on so it didn't run. Never seen it before or since Another product I've used and can't remember the name left a plastic air tight film over the converted rust (black) This stopped surface rust developing and sealed the surface for some time - you could just paint straight over it when ready. Basically all rust converters use phosphoric acid to convert the rust so the stronger the better (quicker) - read the strength on the label. - naturally the stronger the more care in handling

You guys heard of Wayoyl ? The same company makes KURUST. I used both on my old 110 Landrover chassis that I had for seven years in the UK. Got some good money for it when I sold because of the condition of chassis.
KURUST is brushed on and converts rust Waxoyl is sprayed/injected and can be thinned with white spirits I'm gonna do the Mini

Enquire at Repco, Auto Pro etc, if no have they can get it in. Around $15/bottle I think.
