WHat i will do is when i know the exact costs of these backing plates i will post it in a new thread and anyone who wants to order a pair can get in touch with me from there, i will put some contact details and hopefully everything else that could be posed as a question so people can just ring me and order, still havn't looked how im going to do deposit/payment...

Been busy as a bee all week tidying up loose ends for Ivan to go on a short holiday for a family wedding... He will be going to England and Africa... And has to transport a Sunbeam Tiger from africa already, he is looking to get himself an english 850 aswell to slip into the container... AND most importantly he is going to keep his eye out for a pickup for me! Id like a pickup *nods sagely*....... It would be something different, especially with 12 inch Mamba's and a KAD megahead

You could use paymate for deposit and payment. Just build in a little extra to cover the fees.

OT: Does Ivan have any spare room in containers from Africa? I'm after a 1974 Corona 2dr Hardtop (not a Corona MkII!). These were never sold in Oz, but were sold in South Africa.... 8)

Is paymate like Paypal?

As not everyone has that, maybe better to open a savings account with a major bank (that can accept payment from all states unlike St George for example which has limited access outside of NSW). People can then either pay by internet or physically at a branch of their choice provided they have the account details.

If you open it just for this exercise, it would be reasonable in my opinion to factor in any costs of doing so into the price charged. As it is not your primary savings account, there will be less security issues in giving out the details. You could always close it in 6-12 months time once you deem the exercise over.

Thoughts?

Just read this thread from the beginning. Since I'm a half capable sort of a fella I think I might give it a crack. The only thing that's got me a little concerned is the NSW Blue Slip since my rig is no longer reg. :|

you shouldn't have any trouble with the blue slip.... if anything it should be easier to pass as your car will stop better, if your worried, you can make the conversion look as "factory" as possible, thats what im doing with mine 8)

ok... now that ive read through this massive thread i just have a few questions, with spacers being illegal, where do i buy them from.. (i dont want to resort to hacking them off the spacered drums (dont have the tools required for starts)

i dont own a lathe and dont know anyone that does

also.. is there any way i can make up these back plates without involving 'laser cutting'

it all sounds very expensive and no longer like a 'cheap solution'

so basically.. where can i buy spacers and how do i fabricate the plates with no laser, also can someone send me the cad drawings and a few better photos than the ones that are on here..

cheers

urm.... get the dimensions and hack your plates out with an angle grinder and drills??

I am looking into getting plates cut for people who are concerned about getting picked up for modifying and for people who want a clean "factory" sort of look

incidentally have you priced cooper s discs lately???? last time i checked 1600-2000 for a reco set IF you can find them and close to 3k for a new set once you include GST.... makes the honda's look pretty damn cheap to me...... but maybe somethings wrong with my calculator....

Same here, but I doin't give a rats. I agree with Gareth, it will pull up better and is it looks like it was meant to be there, will they know they are from a Honda?!? I doubt it.

I didn't know that spacers were illegal though. Can someone elaborate on that please? .....Kev, Gareth??
