I just got Quoted $250 for a rear sway bar kit.

Does anyone know of a donor car I can get one from?

Maybe if you have done a coversion before I could ask some questions

Front sway bars are a waste of my time. I'm looking for a rear. K-MAK direct will cost me $250 so I figure a little grey matter and a modern donor car will be the way to go.

Sway Bars FRONT and REAR are the way to go.
No point fitting a rear without the front.....

Greig Malaure's Nb race Mini has NO rear bar, and it's pretty well the quickest Nb Mini in Oz.
Of course being a magic Mini steerer helps too.

As for front bars, they will tend to lift the inside front wheel- may be fine with LSD on track, but for a road car I'd forget it.

never fit a front sway bar on a road Mini. Been discussed before.

a rear sway bar for a road car is only usefull on a hydro Mini.

Besser I don't know how you would go getting a sway bar of a modern donor car the rear suspension design is reasonably unique I think which couldmake things difficult.

Did the 1100s, 1300, 1500, 1800 come with sway bars if so this may be a better place to look as they would be designed round a similar suspension setup.

Simply throwing sway bars at a car is not a great idea. They can be very powerful instruments when mounted properly so should be designed/developed around the particular car they are being fitted to. The first question that needs answering is just why you think a sway bar is necessary on a street Mini (I believe it to be for the street?). KC

i got two sway bars here unknowen type or if front or rear need bushes and what ever else to be fitted 50 for the pair

Anonymous moderation means the agro that is built up towards the mods isn't aimed at an individual (fewer "Makk" attacks). Less stress for mods means less moderator "retirements".

not too sure about minis but i've owned a number of cars that i've upgraded to having swaybars both front and rear and it has made a HUGE difference in their handling...my prelude for instance: the rear swaybar snapped and i was driving around without it for like 2 months before i could be bothered sourcing a replacement and the handling was absolutely CRAPARSE for that whole time...whacked a new one on and it was like a whole new car...

as i said...not sure if this applies to minis but in my experience sway bars have been great...but as previously stated i wouldnt try modding a sway bar from a different car...just pay the extra money and get something engineered for the purpose...yer just inviting trouble otherwise...

Most modern road cars have a real compromise on ride - usually erring on the soft side of things hence roll bars are used. Most of what Lotus comes up wih is the softest springs you can get away with and roll controlled by stiffest bars you can get away with. However - a Mini is an entirely different scenario because of it's unique spring rates and suspension geometry set-up. KC.
