I have a Moke that I am rebuilding. I wondering what I can do to an 1100 to give some extra go-ness. I am thinking cam, pistons, carb and extractors. What do you suggest.

Nah, I am not a turbo fan. I think I will stay with normally aspiated for this project. Next time though a sprintex blower or soemthing would be good.

I think you have got all the basics covered.
1.75" carb, and add a pulsar dizzy.

The key to performance in an A series is the camshaft. You can load all the Go-Fast fruit on, but if cam is a POS it will never perform at its best.

Best about for most street purposes at the moment is a Graham Russell RE-13, IMO.
But others are OK too- BMC's 731, Tighe 104, Camtech 631, etc.

What abou compression. I assume the Moke is a low compression motor. To increase compression on a A-series, is it head or pistons or both?

I want street drivable, so a single carb is my preference. Any suggestions on type and size?

All 1098s in Minis here were 8.5:1.
Easiest way to increase it is deck the head, unless you are boring the motor- in which case fit Sprite 1098 pistons if available.

Standard head is a 12G202 which also was used on the 997 Cooper. It responds well to porting and chamber work, and can be decked 2mm or a bit more..

12G295 heads were used on 998 Cooper etc and are better in stock form, but as they have huge combustion chambers, if put on your motor the C/R will drop to around 8:1 or less.

I would port the stock 202 head, then deck it to get a C/R of 9.5:1 or more if changing the cam.

Single carbs- if you like SU I would go with a single HS6 or HIF44.

Otherwise a 40DHLA Dellorto or 40DCOE Weber.
