Hi,

I opened Minmag tonight (Official journal of the Victorain Mini Club Inc) and as usual went straight to the Mini-Mart section. A WANTED advert caught my eye. In summary, the guy was looking for his old Mini. It was described as a lime green "Rover" with a purple and white racing stripe. It was purchased from him in Portland and went to people in Sunbury. He wants to know if he can buy it back, or at least have some photos.

Well, I remember when Jan first purchased the car that became Mutant. That car fitted the description exactly (except it was actually a MkIII Leyland). So it must be the same car.

The irony is that his old car is now (arguably) the most famous Mini on the Aussie scene - MUTANT! He's probably seen photos of it a lot and doesn't realise it.

I love stories like this. Cars reconnecting with previous owners. But somehow I think Jan won't be selling it back to him anytime soon. :)

Rang the guy yesterday and had a chat.

Explained to him that there is not much left of his car as he knew it. Sent him off to look at the website.

He asked what sort of price would I be looking at if I decided to sell it (prior to actually seeing mutant). I think he got a shock!

He was glad that his mini was being looked after and asked for some photos of how mutant looked when he owned it.

Thanks to everyone who let me know he was looking for me.

Well, if I was in his position I would feel honoured that my old car became Mutant.

It wasn't exactly original when bought off him anyway.

Slightly OT, but I traced where my first Mini (and first car) is. But he won't sell it back to me neither. :(
