so i put a charged battery in cracker this morning and turn the ignition on, i had dash lights but when i turned the key nothing at all happened :?

i have dash lights, head lights and horn but nothing else. there is absolutely no spark and the engine doesnt try to turn over at all

i guess i have pulled a wire off from somewhere but cant find it. Any Ideas?

I have replaced the whole front drum set up on both sides and replaced the bolt up oil filter with a spin on one. i cant think of anything that i have done to cause this apart from dissconnecting the wire that went to the old oil filter. this is not connected to anything now

any help would be great

Cheers

check all the leads going into the solenoid. If that's all kosher grab a multimeter and start diagnosing where you're losing power.

Some solenoids have a button there , others have a bakelite lump that does nothing , not sure why but handy at times though I could imagine it could be lethal if someone put their hand on the wrong bit while the car was in gear .....

To make it easier for servicing - also makes it easier for hotwiring!
Discontinued on later model cars :)

Are there any cars easier to hotwire than a mini? considering many dont have an internal bonnet release and it take 2 secs with a jump starter pack?

Put a battery isolator switch in the boot...
Mightn't stop them, but will slow `em down.

i think some people have a hard time tryin to find the battery - which slows em down. I remember some had there mini trashed cause they couldnt find the battery or something, so they poured brake fluid all over it.

An easy one that I have seen is take the dizzy cap off and remove the rotor and then put the dizzy cap back on. What's the chances they have a mini rotor in thier back pocket :D

A little bit harder with the pulsar dizzy but still doable and a potential thief could even have a mini rotor and it still wouldn't go
