hmmmmm ... yes it's really going to depend on how thick it's been applied. I know with mine before I decided to do the full metal paint strip, I did try to take just the house paint off .... it came off ok on the sides of the car but it was pretty thick on the roof and other areas and was almost impossible to move.
I started on the sides using a scraper and this was the result:
I could have kept going but got pretty sick of it! Also I tried rubbing other areas with turps which worked but was very slow going.
The other suggestion here (pressure washer) by Harley sounds like it would work ..... my painter suggested this to me but I never actually tried it as I couldn't get my hands on one .... by then I'd decided to strip it entirely anyway. Preferably try to do this with hot water .... I reckon that would work better.
My final bit of advice would be leave the house paint on the car until you start stripping it. I reckon the house paint actually helped lift the original paint off the car using the Cling wrap method.
Cheers,
BC.
