Well I've picked up another mini 8) (to go with the 82 roundnose)

It's a 1974 Austin Clubman, I THINK it's an 1100cc motor, I think extractors & definitly an exhaust, relocated & upgraded radiator, some nice aftermarket seats, larger fuel tank, and Im told it has upgraded brakes. Seems to run ok....but is missing at high rev's. It has recently had new leads, plugs, dizzy, fuel filter, and battery but is still missing. I'll get a mecanic mate to take a look but it idle's good & until higher revs drives well.

There is a little bit of rust just under the rear drivers side window otherwise no obvious rust anywhere else. The tyre's on it are 165's and a lil bit wide....rubs on the gaurd at the back.

Can the engine size be worked out via the engine number badge on the motor?? It's 99H702E-H115190.

Can anybody tell anything else from the pics??

Honda Prelude seats maybe? That radiator's a whopper! And I'm surprised the tyres rub, my 165's don't but by the looks of it you have widened steel rims. These aren't legal although you'd probably get away with it at most WoF places. Is the black thing on the LHS of the engine bay in your pic an alarm? Not connected by the look of it. Paint looks in good nick (from here).

All up, I'd say you actually got a very rare Clubman Cooper, only 4 ever made for the ill-fated 1978 Monte Carlo rally, with reverse drum brakes and double overhead sun visors - probably worth a mint!

Oh and typing 99H702E into google came up with this
http://staging.motorbase.com/auctionlot/by-id/1300237242/

Same engine number, but it's engine is a 998cc.. Yours looks like it has a 1100 head on it, with the water temp hole on the head. So it may be an original 1100 or a 998 with a 1100 crank and head?

Yeah.......looks like a great fit & seems to work fine.

I thought the were OEM wheels? just rub on the back inside corner. The rust inside under the drivers side rear window is something I expect will make it fail a Wof.....although it's not structual??

Yep, I need to call the guy back as he rang and mentioned it as working but just needs to be plugged back in and it works. I was in the truck bringing it home & i couldn't hear him properly. Outside pait is indeed pretty tidy, should make a re-spray an easier job.

It does have visors inside....what makes you say the rest??

Yeah there was some talk by the guy i brought it off about it being either a 998cc or 1100cc buthe wasn't sure what.

I have to get a book off the guy as there is something written in it about the brakes, I have a funny feeling I saw something about Moke brakes or something??

Cheers

looks like a std 998 motor with either a metro front radiator or a jappa radiator. the thermostat housing is from a morrie/austin 1100.
well i would toss the carb away and get rid of the problems your having with the miss fire, but hey your mini mechanic should know this, that i sounds like the fueling is wrong up top end and it leaning out the motor.

have fun and play nicely.

its just a std clubman and all of them over here had the same type of locks its was only the ausse minis that did things differently.

I have just cut 2 of them up for the scrap yard cos no one wanted them even for panels and i cant keep every mini i buy as i would end up with hundreds of them, i dont like cutting up round noses but clubmans are just not as disirable as a roundie over here.

its sad really cos they all really minis.

Where was that made then? Pommyland?

Because in Oz even the last of the Ks came out with the burstproof locks & flush door handles.

They're the normal "Mk3" latches aren't they , I thought they were burst proof looking at them , just different handles to what we had , push button rather than lift up ?

I got it cheap & It won't take much to get it all up to scratch, should be able to make some money off it........these day's it's just hard to find Mini's that are still on the road & not falling apart :)

Well it's been a while but Im almost sorted 8) I picked it up this morning.......clutch adjusted, brakes adjusted, new dizzy cap (not the mis issue though), exhaust mounted back up, and after all that.........new air filter, that is what was causing the car to mis-fire

I just drove it a good 50 km's & it's running great, got stuck traffic at one point and watched the temp dial rise....then I heard the fan switch on & I watched the temp dial drop so it seems the fan makes a bit of a difference :) Drives well so hopefully chuck a fresh wof on it tomorrow, take the rego off hold & be unsing it by work on Thursday!!

Cheers
