Well, the results for the Mini1000 race series are in for round 1, and surprise surprise, I came in first with a lap time 1 minute and 55 seconds faster than anyone else out there!

Results
1st. Richard Appleby - 1:55.06

I did 1:55's and 1:56's all day. Just couldn't seem to put everything together on the same lap.

I installed a bike speedo into the car the day before and the fastest I went down the straight was 113 kmh. Incidently, on the way there, I thought I'd figure out exactly how fast the absolute top speed of my car was, seeing as there was no wind around... wait for it... it's really worth waiting for... one hundred and fifteen point one kilometres an hour. That's flat stick.

Where was everyone else?

I took some photos, none of me obviously, but a bunch of other minis.

There were 6 minis out in all, 2 were Binis.

Incidently, Neil Turner pulled a 1:24 to start from 10th after practise. Not sure what he did in the end, but minis were representing.

Maxiumum Attack took some shots of me.

Of the 10 people who said they would enter, exactly one was at the supersprint.

Everyone else was all talk, yet seem to have gone a bit quiet.

Not that I really care. I had a blast and I'll be back out again on the 9th of April to see if I can get under 1:55.

I was, by the end of the day, the slowest car out there, but also the only car with an engine under 1L.

Still just an 'A' series. Supercharged, mind you. Full spaceframe, with the body channeled down over the subframe. AWESOME piece of kit, that one

Well firstly, I was under the impression that the first event was on March 18...... *edit - just did a search.... damn, first race March 5..... April it IS then  *

Secondly..... still waiting for some engine parts to arrive and other parts to get machined..... AND until my engine is in the car, I cant fabricate the seat mounts/dash/switch panel.

But those are not the main reasons......

Work is closing for 4 weeks and I wont be getting paid. That means I need to save an extra 2500 bucks to pay for the bills in that month. No racing for me. Maybe next year. :(
