Hi Everyone ! :D

Have been an Ausmini member for a while, but I've never actually introduced myself, or more importantly my car.

I'm Mark & I'm from the Hills District NSW (Yeah another one) !!

Those that used to frequent Mini Kingdom at Milperra before they moved to their new premises at Padstow will probably know my car. The car featured in Mini Magic Magazine many moons ago, and spent a fair while as a display car in the show room at Mini Kingdom. The car was sold to a guy who took it to Queensland, and then to the ACT, where I bought it a year and a half ago.

It is a Purple Clubman, originally a 998LS, and its now a Clubman GT wannabe, with a right hand tank yet to be fitted (which I bought off JAM). and a few other bits and pieces in the pipeline. When I bought the car, it was pretty much as it was when it featured in the magazine, the car was not concourse, but in pretty good nick.

My first mini was a white 1976 Mini S, which was sold to a guy at Point Claire NSW probably about 5-6 years ago... never met the guy as my parents sold it for me while I was on holidays... hoping she is still out there going strong.

My current Purple car has done a low 12,000 km since its complete rebuild, so the engine is nearly run in ! Its about time I came on a cruise with the Ausmini crowd, so I hope to meet as many of you as I can very soon.

Long live the Mini.

Cheers
Mark.

Haven't been here for, er, ages, and I kinda forgot about it to be honest until I went on a Mini cruise today here in Tasmania, and CAMEL was in front of me with a rather attention grabbing sticker on the back for this website.

Samuel, 24, Hobart type, 850 Mini that has Deluxe stuff on it (it was bought that way, it'll change back when I have time/money), it does need a bit of work, turns out it's a breeding ground for fricking huge spiders too, it's so nice of them to run over 3 1/2yo kids arms when I'm driving along at 100kph.

I've got a couple of other cars too, this household keeps someone employed at the Dept of Transport. (7 rego'd cars, 8 when Dad finishes the Van...)

Heh, there's 7 registered cars for 3 drivers, but there's another 7 cars that aren't registered, 3 of which run.
Plus a tractor, 3 trail bikes, and a dead road bike. :P

Welcome Alan....was that a wee garage back home or one that specialised in BMC products :?: :D

If you still have your old skills (like gearbox rebuilding) you could be on a nice little earner here if that tickles your fancy....there are a few Mini specialists around but always room for one more  Cheers, MIck

The garage I worked in was Bmc mini's and metro's only, I worked in the garage with Scotlands best mini specialist, he was a grumpy bugger but he taught you if you wanted to be taught. My uncle is also a mechanic so he taught me what ever the other chap didnt!.

Are ther that may mini specilalist garages around?
Keep thinking about going back to working on cars, the onlt problem is that I have no bits of paper telling anyone what I can do, its all been taught on the garage floor. Using the web only found Mini and Moke world near Sydney.

I don't know the Sydney scene that well anymore.....there is Graham Russell building probably the best engines in Australia....I think Greig Malaure helps him out and does work as well through his Mini Classic?? at Ermington....I thought Ivan at Castle Hill did some work...Suzitech also over that way....Mini Spares od Australia?? out at Padstow hae a large workshop....and our very own Dr Mini is a gifted amateur (thats meant to be a huge compliment Doc :!: )....oh...and there is a place over at Brookvale...

However, there are a lot of Minis out there and lot of peope who need help.....look how successful Ausmini has been at that....paper??? sheesh, hook up with some youngster with a ticket and show them the ropes....they may be lost at first without any computer diagnostics to help :D
