I told him it was down a bit on power and he he because of the head and he went off and decided to try get more power out of it by trying it on avgas.
also He raced it at the end of last year.
The motor has been raced before and has worked really well in the past with no issues.
it was an everyday motor that was used to drive everywhere also.

well the deal was if he broke it he bought it.

well im going to charge him for it.
I dont have a back up engine so now i have to take it easy also yeah no supercharged motor to play with also.

Also the only south african motor in the country. I only had it for 8 years and cost me $8k to get it right. gees it is a bit of a money thing in the long run also.

cos it was running datsun pistons it was cheaper in south africa to make them fit than it was to buy mini pistons.
it was no slouch this motor and ran a 10.01 1/8 mile on road tires single carb etc.

1360 engine ask the doc waht he has spent on his over the years?????
soon adds up i can tell you.

I only want $4k back i think thats fair considering he had it from last october driving it everyday, call it a daily rental charge or km charge he had done over 3000km in it.

yes to answer is it all stuffed yep the cam even took a hit and has bent, water ump is still good and the flywheel is ok.
head is bent and took a big hit when it broke no ill check for bent valves in that and push rods bent.gearbox took a huge hit as he said he was doing 80kph when it went and the motor stopped instantly but inertia carried on goin for a few more turns.

Just come back on , that's an impressive failure , did the driver/killer say what revs he was doing at the time ? I was going to guess it dumped coolant into number 2 and stopped dead but read further and I was way wrong .

he flinched when he told me as he thought i was going to knock his block off.
But i have been diplomatic about it. he just said it went bang and that was it.

hmmm...let me see...yes...right...i see...move your wrist like so...right...interesting...
ok...in my professional opinion...its f**ked...

hope you were wearin yer brown undies when that happened :) musta made quite a noise :P

here is a n00bish question but: is that even fixable? you could replace the crank and the block (but something tells me there might be a few other things broken)...but by the time you'd gone to all that trouble and expense wouldnt it be better to just get a whole new engine and have a few spares left from the original one?

not much any good form it, like the flywheel was good and the diff (which is competiion bushed diff pin etc) other than that nothing, even the cam took a hard enough knock to bend it (you can see it with your eye how bad its bent).
I have to say its terminal.
