No, not roller tip- those are the common garden variety sintered rockers, used from mid-70s on here in Oz, and a.k.a. A+ rockers.
Last card in the pack- they wear your valve ends with hi-lift cams, are not as strong as all the other stock ones, have poor lift, and they are not bushed either.
I keep the springs for my Corolla ones, and put the rest in the `round file'. 8)

That is the thread that the rocker cover nut locks onto. Same on the other end.

Sorry for the thread revival (just spent a long time trying to find it)

Any chance that this topic/information could become a sticky or a "How To"???

PM sent to Sports 850.
More info on how I make them-

"From a Corolla KE55? Perhaps. Dunno Corollas. It's from a RWD, 1290cc. Hicam badges on sides.

Bit harder to do than it looks, and takes a while.
Work involved:
1. Bush rockers back to suit 9/16" dia Mini shaft (use HD thick wall one).
2. Mill or turn .140" from the side of rocker hub boss which is widest. (same side as the valve pad offset is).
3. Move the shaft holes in the rocker posts back by 4.0mm.
4. Redrill the oil feed hole in #1 post at an angle to intersect the new shaft position.
5. Drill and tap a post 3/8" UNF for the relocated shaft location screw. Use the old #2 post for #3 or #4.

These rockers are a PITA to hold on the mill, due to their shape. So I did the following:
1. Turn bush on end of a length of bearing bronze. Leave OD .002" oversize, drill hole 14.0mm.
2. Press rocker onto bush using tailstock.
3. Face side of rocker back by .140" approx- finished width is 0.625".
4. Bore hole in bush to have .0005" clearance on shaft.
5. Part off bush flush with back of rocker.
6. Repeat steps for the other 7 rockers.

Modifying rocker posts:
I turned up some steel plugs with a chamfer on each end and also CSK'd the posts' shaft holes.
I tried to MIG weld one, but they appear to be sintered or cast steel, and full of oil. So NBG.
Oxy saved the day! I heated them to around 700C which burned all the oil out, then brazed the plugs in with manganese bronze or nickel bronze rod and bronze welding (for cast iron) flux.
Worked a treat!
I milled them flat, drilled a 6mm hole, then set them up true to the hole in the lathe, and drilled them out to 14.0mm using a slot drill. Do not drill them using a twist drill, the hole will wander due to one side of hole being harder than the other. Finally I bored them to size with a boring tool.
Note the height of the shaft in the posts is as per stock Mini. Geometry to valve looks good".

Cheers,
Kevin Green

They are from the 1.3L `HiCam' Corolla- 3K or 4K motor, I think even the earlier 1100? Corollas are the same rocker assembly.
Basically if it's a RWD Corolla, they are the ones. 8)

Not yet, I'll take some when I do the next batch...
Here's pic of a stock one with a new steel one like I used to make..
I don't do it now, it's heaps more work for no benefit.
Pic also shows a modded Corolla rocker. There are 4 LH and 4 RH.

Thanks for the fast reply doc can now see whats going on with the pederstals.Have spoken to a couple of people over here about doing it and they are making new pederstals. But like you said it seems like a lot of work so i will stick with the method of using the old ones. What valve clearance do you set to with a re13 cam with 1.5 rockers at the mo they are set to 16thou with standard pressed steel rockers

Cheers

I run .018" - .019" with the 1.5s. No they don't rattle, if you are wondering...
My RE282 cam in the 1360 with MSC forged 1.5 rockers runs .022" inlet and .024" exhaust. That's what GR recommended. It's pretty quiet too. 8)

Read part 2 of my post, up near top of the page.
I turn the bush in the lathe from bar stock, press rocker on using tailstock, machine face of rocker, then finish bore bush.
ONLY the side of rocker with the tip sticking out gets faced.
