hmmmm...

so whats the verdict...
can it be done or not? im talking front mounted turbo busa powered clubman? or maybe a r1 or gsxr1100 engine?

i would like to build one as a track car.. but id like to be able to get it registered so i can drive it to where it needs to go or whatever...

you will only need to abide by the ADR's set out at the time of construction for the FRAME you are using....

not in NSW

rule is simple if you put an engine in a car, the engine has to meet the emissions ADRs of the year of the engine or the year of the car - but which ever is the later.

eg put a 1961 engine in a 1990 car and the engine has to meet 1990 emissions ADRs
eg put a 1990 engine in a 1961 car and the engine has to meet 1990 emissions ADRs

catch is as mentioned by others, bike engines still don't have to meet emissions or noise ADRs applicable to cars.

do a search on the link to the RTA rules in here (not sure if other states are as available, but hey i live in NSW!) and READ it. None of it is too difficult to overcome if you have read the rules first IMHO.

you have much more chance of getting a bike engine to pass emissions if you use one of those new fangled fuel injected ones.

Saw one of these the other day and thought it would probablt fit in a mini engine bay quite easily being only a 3 cylinder.

You have to find a suitable FWD gearbox that would handle 200Nm of torque before you decided to turbo it of course...

I saw in a UK Mini mag once a black beast of a Mini. This was a round nosed Mini with a GXSR 1300 turbo in it running on 13x7's . The engine itself was on the back seat well without the seat fitted of course. 0-100 in 3.2 if my memory serves me correctly even if its 0-60 in that time I'd imagine it wouldn't be too much more to 100 clicks.

0-100 is 0-62 :P so yeah...not much more...another 0.1 of a second or there abouts...
