Even a slightly worked 1275 should give a commodore a run for it's money. My 1152 can give them a scare to 90km/h after that there is no hope.

A REALLY worked 1275 will blow away a commodore easily.

in a straightline drag? what kinda commodore we talking here? SS and below probably...HSV and i'd say you wouldnt have much of a chance...but then these school mates of his prolly arent driving around in HSVs :P

plus a REALLY worked 1275 isnt exactly cheap :P nor terribly reliable...

Obviously we are talking stock V6 commodore's here, FFS you wouldn't even have a hope with an SS, HSV? why even mention it? much of a chance? you would get slaughtered..actually raped, then slaughtered

Yes, my mini keeps up with VP, VR etc..commodore in a straight line from the lights to 80-90km/h.

I reckon an original pooper S would struggle to match a new stock commonwhore in a straight line.

Yes, it would struggle, but it would give the commodore a scare and certainly be respectable. My mini puts out about stock Cooper S power and you struggle, but you don't get blown away.

I must admit I would like to see what my bog standard starlet conversion does 0-100? Wonder if it does under 8.7 sure feels like it? Traction would obviously be the big issue.

Traction should be too bad for you if you Brad can get 5.5sec out of his on crap tires at the creek...

You should have minimal problem with pre-90's commodore's with a little work. Concetrate on honing your skills before you go out for big power. You will need $5-10 000 to do a conversion.
