Seriously, i know alot of people just throw questions arond without truly considering it, but how about you learn a bit more about basic engine stuff, rather than jumping straight in at the top of the list.

It's evident in your questions that you don't really know what your talking about (i mean why are you even asking about power steering and a/c?) and that's fine, asking questions is the way to learn, but it seems like even the foundation isn't there to teach you, it's like trying to make you run when you havn't even taken a step.

im asking bout those things because i wanted to get them eventually and its one of the main reasons for doing the conversion... not nevessarily the power...and yes your right. im not the smartest when it comes to engines, but i know enough to recognise its a big job, but ive always learnt what ive needed too to get past what ive tried.. none the less... the idea of this thread was to see was possible.. as i know the bays are quite small...

Hey six cubed when you finally figure it out, can you share with me how to do a cheap engine swap that I can just put in and be done with, and without having my car off the road very long? I'm trying to figure out how to buy a Ferrari Enzo and put install 12 turbos and all-wheel drive for under $150. Just a couple more posts.

Most people do it for power and reliability.

If you are after power steering (god knows why you would even want it in a mini) and air con..but a barina..

Powersteering and aircon are subcomponents of the engine, they have nothing to do with it, except that the brackets are made to fit that engine in it's original engine bay and that the pumps connect to the right places. Even if the engine you are fitting has aircon and power steering, it doesn't just bolt straight in, i wish it did..otherwise we'd all have aircon! You'd still need to fabricate custom brackets, piping and get it positioned correctly not forgetting a custom radiator as you'd have to bin the old one.

You'd be far better off getting a jap rover aircon system and putting it in your car or starting from scratch at the wrecker's.

With enough $$$ ANYTHING is possible..

You want power steering for a Mini? That's easy, use dumbells.

It's better than putting the extra weight of powersteering components in your Mini, especially when they are not needed. It will only slow you down. Reduce weight, it's like free horsepower, only better because your brakes, handling and fuel economy also improve.

OK, you can get all of those things fitting a small Jap engine,
but fitting a power steering rack into the mini system would be one ning nong of a job.

Budget wise, there are a lot of hidden costs in an engine conversion.
Even doing ALL the work yourself, 2.5k will not cover it.
Not even if you already had vented disks.

Things like powersteering and A/C don't have too much to do with the engine. Both of the aforementioned use pumps that are bolted to the engine. If the car that is donating the engine has these features you can just unbolt them from the engine which will make more room in the Minis engine bay. But you will need to make the appropriate changes to the belts on the engine to work without the pumps. If the engine doesn't have A/C, which you seem to want, it is something that you can add, but you'd need to fabricate a bracket to bolt the pump to. You will also need to change the belts. But remember that A/C also robs power. I'm sure somebody will say "yeah, but you live in Canada". First of all it's not that cold all the time in Canada, and I've also lived in a pretty warm climate with humidity between 95-100% most of the summer and I still refuse to have A/C. But I'm a little crazy,

You also have to be careful with the steering geometry when messing around with different steering racks. It would be difficult finding one that would be the right width. You could end up with some pretty nasty bump steer, which would definately be worse than no powersteering.

I also prefer my windows down to condition my air. My hair is shaved very short so it will not blow in my face and also because it's less weight in my car to slow me down.
