I think I see Bobs take on this:

Think about it people!

Obviously he has a mini AND a starlet... if he's restoring a mini it is most likely he has wheels. Why ask the question if you could find out by yourself and try your current wheels on the starlet??? It looks like he wants the wheels for his mini when he finishes it, so BUY them and THEN try them.

If he doesn't currently have wheels for the min, do some research... try the starlet wheels on the mini

MrBob hasnt actually said which one was the "stupid comment".... but you could assume that he thought they both are... because he said that he only shows the stupid questions.....

I dont see a problem with either one...... except that those wheels are way too small for a regular starlet.... rolling diameter will put the speedo WAY out.

I don't think it was a particularly stupid question either.

It's one thing thinking it's stupid but then deliberately drawing attention to it on here is a bit mean spirited.

We can't all be great mechanics and know everything about cars (I've certainly asked a number of more stupid questions in my time). Then you've got this guy who's obviously keen enough to learn and do his own mini restoration asking a fairly innocent question, only to be called 'stupid' by a know-it-all who doesn't even know whether the answer is yes or no ("I Highly doubt it...").

Now if it was such a stupid question, surely the answer should be absolute??

Opps, didn't mean to rant, looks like he took it with a pinch of salt anyway and appears to be the highest bidder at present - Good Luck to bidder(s) and seller!!

Taking about wrong-sized wheels - do you think it would look kind of the opposite of this:

Hmmmmm.................

Possibly shouldn't have done that
Seem to have offended a few people. :?

Sorry, it was a lighthearted comment that on reflection was a bit mean and not needed. That's the problem with chat and email etc - you can't put tone of voice, sarcasm or anything like that down on a screen, and once you say something dumb it's very hard to take it back.

UNRESERVED APOLOGY
To anyone I've offended or un-necessarily embarassed (although I've probably done more of that to myself than anyone else). Even sorry to Braveheartjunky for the response to his stupid question (but I didn't publish THAT one!!!! )

If anything good was to come of this, at least we got one new member!!
Ask all the questions you want in here!!

Now back to regular programming 8)

The least often phrases you see on the Internet are "I was wrong" or "I am sorry".

Bravo Mr Bob for being big enough to post this. 8)

hey bob, what are you selling those on e-bay for? All you had to do was ring me and I'd have borrowed them off you.

For those that didn't see the original post or thread, I made a dickhead out of myself by insulting someone that asked a question on this auction, but have withdrawn the comments after a well deserved massive public backlash!!
