Shannons are for special vehicles and they tend to charge just as much for ordinary vehicles as any other insurer and sorry but a Commode is an ordinary vehicle even if it has a charger on it

It only costs me $236 a year to insure this for $30k

Yeah sorry, the Commodore is insured through Just Cars  . I was trying to get at the difference in price between these cars and Matt's that has such a major modification as an engine swap. I cant believe that it was so cheap, and i cant believe yours is so cheap!! I want mine to be that cheap!! I suppose i have to expect high premiums only being 21.

Yeah hopefully I should be away I faxed "the ning nong" a copy of the new report today and he hasn't contact me or the engineer so I will get really pissed off if he tries it on again!

As for insurance miniboy, yeah I think the age thing might be the determining factor. I'm like 35 and have a 65% no claim bonus. And I lost my last licence 6 years ago...Also what is also interesting is I rang them and got a quote about 3 months ago and it was $500, it lapsed and I rang them again and it was $435?

Anyway coming up for R-Day on Friday so I will let you know how it goes. Also put in on high boost now she really goes...

Cheers

Matt

PS. Feral you gonna be at the next Mini meeting I thought I might attend and bring the beast in...

Hi Matt,

can you fill me in on a few things:

Did they test things like:
horn operation
wipers
lights etc

When I went to get my SS LX registered after fitting the 327, the guys at the DMR made me test the horn lights, wipers etc. They also wanted to check whether I was carrying a spare, and was it fixed down, and that there was a jack, and was it secured etc.

Thats the lengths they go to in Queensland.

Anyway - anymore lip from that "inspector guy" abd me an JC will come down to do his nuts over.

Cheers,
Andrew

Yeah Andy did all that wipers, lights, horn. Didn't test my heater/demister but I have it hooked up even if it ain't the most powerful jet of air...

Yeah having spoken to a few queenslanders it seems that the level of scrutiny is very similar. They knocked me back because one of my high beams didn't work (which is reasonable). Like I said the first test I was happy to only come out with 6 issues plus ID check and an advisory on the exhaust. It was the second time that killed me...

I'll get on the blower to you and JC the moment he starts giving lip 8) . Or get Rob F to drop him off a cliff...Going really well at the moment...

Cheers

Matt

Ooooerr - you guys will have to take him to the cliff - trolls cant carry too much past their own bodyweight. Jokes aside though, if you need a hand with anything, let me know(labour and the likes...) give us a tingle. I know through the club there was an all points for assistance but unfortunately the work I am in has me away most weeks(and bloody week-ends!!) however they have now farmed out the work to other parts of defence so I have a little more spare time(still busy but home a lot more!!). Must get to a club meeting(havent been to one for about 4 months now!!).

Be well!

Ah rego is fun isn't it? You know Warren's 850 van that was also at Wheels? That passed rego with flying colours but they wanted to do an ID check. Can't find the numbers in their system (car hasn't been registered for 15 years), so it can't be registered. Was going for a police check today, not sure of the outcome yet. If the cops can't find reference to the car, then it is denied rego even though it is Australian delivered. WTF?

When I put my Mini through rego, I didn't even know what year model it was. The inspector just asked me to 'pick a year'. It really is luck of the draw.

Good luck anyway :)

We are getting OT, but what would the authorities do if you presented an Aussie made car that had never been registered? There's the odd car out there that have been stored away from new.

Well.....1071 has been through a similar trial because he found a body at the tip....built it up as a car....and they would not believe him.

Statutory Declaration require to sort that lot out.

Well guys good news. It passed I have the rego papers in my hot little hands. Turned up and this anal-retentive inspector kept wandering around with the inspection report trying to find the particular tech inspector that had knocked back my engineers report. Couldn't find him so he talked to the tech inspector on duty.

He said the report looked fine to him so they finally passed it and stamped the pass box. This particular inspector had also sorted out the mess from the ID check (basically looked up the car on crimtrac - which obviously showed the transfer of rego and that the car wasn't stolen) and sorted it out for me and gave me my ID certificate.

I tell you what I practically sprinted into the Dickson rego station to pay for the years rego ($619!!). So now I am away the car is rego'd and insured. Once again all down to who you get on the day, I think if that particular tech officer had been there it might have been a different story...

Thanks for the support everyone, the hints and tips came in very handy with a special thanks to Brad for answering all my inane questions about turbo's etc.

Cheers

Matt
