I'm currently looking into a set of wheels, but with my impending family situation (about to get an extra body any day now...), I dont really want to travel too far...

I'm thinking Auspost would want my left one to send wheels, but has anyone got any experience with it ?

They are steelies, not heavy-ass mags . . . .

I had wheels sent thru the post from qld, it cost $20 each box.

Now i just had a look at australia post and you can have it posted for about $6.40 up to 13kgs each wheel by what is said on there. Have a look and see for yourself.

Four wheels with tyres in one box was going to cost me around $65 to send via
TNT, picked up.

I just had a set of wheels sent from Sydney to Bris. Including redrilling it was $110. Courier charged $10 per wheel for post. Redrilling must have been $70

Had four Dunlops sent from NSW to WA for about $45...they're pretty light wheels though.

TNT said they don't do private stuff anymore and reccomend "pack n send". I guess with Aussie Post you have to box them up nicely and do all that stuff.

I got a quote for a set of mags with tyres sent from Coffs Habour to Melbourne, door to door, $155. Didn't know if this was cheap. Still looking before I buy siclads_5's wheels.

Just had a bootlid, large in size but not so heavy, that wouldn't fit in the post sent through Greyhound Bus Freight service from Coogee to Brisbane for $ 30 for the bus and $ 8 each end for door to door pick up.

Maybe worth a try.

My personal favourite is check with your local furniture removalists , often they're happy to take things like this providing they're clean and it's an easy pickup for a backload for drinking money . Better if they're well packed first of course but not essential for a lot of them .
