Got my self a expansion tank that I wanting to install!

Came off a later mini/moke steel tank with cap

Now, do I have to keep it close to the rad?

Will I need a new rad cap at a different pressure or shorter neck? on both the rad and the exp. tank?

Moke's have them just behind the filler neck on the firewall. Morris 1100's have them right at the front of the car down on the subframe (if not right next to it) at the bottom of the rad.

When you fit it, you need a blanking cap on the radiator, and a normal radiator cap on the expansion tank.

A cap that emits no pressure, but stops the water getting out. The expansion cap is where it is pressurised from.

ok....so who would have these caps and I guess they look the same as a normal cap.
Have they a pressure rating stamped on top?

Mini place would sell them, probably the local auto place aswell. No pressure rating on the blanking cap, it has a flat top with a little clip on the side usually.

You dont put a normal radiator cap on the radiator when you have an expansion tank. The expansion tank simply increases the amount of water the radiator holds so you put the normal radiator cap on the expansion tank and the blanking cap to simply "blank" the hole on the radiator. If you have an expansion tank and put a normal radiator cap on the radiator, water will flow out of the radiator into the expansion tank but cant get back in.

(as spoken by poeee)

The early Morris 1100 had the tank mounted as Poeee said down low behind the front bumper but the later cars had them up high next to the wiper motor which is a much better place. (although they moved the washer bottle to in front of the radiator so it will freeze on cold days!)

He has not got the overflow bottle from a Hyundai, he has the expansion tank from a Moke, there is a huge difference.
What he needs is the cap from a Morris 1100 or Moke in the radiator. The cap from a Holden will not do the trick.

If you fit it properly you increase the cooling capacity and it saves you from having to top up the radiator as often. (My Morris 1100 has not had any water added in 7 years)

The "Blanking cap" (as it`s being called here) for the radiator is basically a flat cap with just a rubber disc shaped seal underneath, the tank will need a short neck 13lb pressure cap & the hose between the rad & tank must be pressure hose & clamped tight & must also be evacuated fully of any air, therfore totally full with water. The tank can be mounted anywhere in the car, high ,low ,left ,right, even in the boot if you so desired. as long as the hose between the 2 has been evacuated of any air & is sealed tight.

They`re really good thing to have, every mini i build/drive/race/work on, has one fitted

easy-peasy :-)
